Horse Back Specialist for Blue Star Camps
Certified 1997 with CHA, The Association for Horsemanship Safety and Education
Blue Star Camp is located in the beautiful mountains of Henderson, NC. This camp had 27 different options for the kids to do and horseback was just one of them. The horse program had 5 riding areas, 31 horses and 7 hand- picked instructors! The camp, as a whole, serviced 1,600 kids throughout that summer and the numbers have just continued to grow. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of such a professional organization.
Assistant Camp Director for Wood College
Certified 1998 as instructor basic with A.A.H.S., American Association for Horsemanship Safety
Wood Horsemanship Camp is located in Mathiston, MS. I was attending college there when I was asked to help lead the summer program. That program serviced children of all different disciplines of riding at various levels. We ended each session with a horse show for the parents and gave away awards to children with outstanding performance. What a confidence booster for all of the participants!
Equine Director for His Way After-School program and Summer Camp program
Re-certified 2002, Master Level English and Master Level Western Instructor with CHA
His Way Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Jackson, MS. Our focus with the After-School program was with intercity kids and “at risk” youth. This allows the less fortunate to be able to participate in such an expensive sport as horseback riding. The summer camp program was also a huge success. We serviced over 100 kids a week in that riding program. I was also able to have 3 MIT (mentors in training) that benefited as well. This was by far the most rewarding program I have directed.
Currently Owner, Riding-N-Style, Inc.
