Children and adults with a wide range of physical, cognitive, mental and emotional disabilities can benefit through Therapeutic Riding here at U Ride Too!

Therapeutic Riding is the use of horses and equine-assisted activities in order to achieve goals that enhance physical, emotional, social, cognitive, behavioral and educational skills for people who have disabilities. It not only focuses on the therapeutic riding skills but also the development of a relationship between horse and rider. An individual is coupled with an equine professional.

Hippotherapy is when the equine movement is utilized as part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional outcomes. A physical, occupational or speech therapist is coupled with an equine professional to achieve these goals. Unfortunately, most insurance companies in the United States do not cover Hippotherapy. However, a therapist can sometimes bill for a Hippotherapy session as a “regular” therapy session.

Equine Therapy focuses on ground-based activities. A Mental Health Professional and Equine Specialist work with the client in creative horse-centered activities designed to address specific treatment goals to produce desired results. Often during a session, the horse or experience can initiate an “Aha” moment that impacts that client’s way of thinking or behaving. After the session, the client takes away key experiences and can begin to make lifelong changes.

Mission Statement:

At U Ride Too!, our mission is to foster physical and mental development through the activity of horseback riding, regardless of ones ability to pay, while promoting horse safety and education.
